  • What can I expect from my first visit to Genesee Valley Physical Therapy?
During your first visit to Genesee Valley Physical Therapy, you will meet with your highly educated Physical Therapist. Your therapist will evaluate your specific injury and discuss the treatment program that will be designed specifically for you. Depending on the situation, you may be started on your treatment plan at your first visit.
  • Will my rehab program cause me any pain or discomfort?
If during your rehab your pain or discomfort from your injury increases, please notify your therapist immediately so appropriate changes can be made to your program. Your individualized program SHOULD NOT have any long lasting pain or discomfort.
  • How long should I expect my sessions to last?
Your initial session with your Physical Therapist will be about 45-60 minutes. Each subsequent visit will last approximately 30-60 minutes depending on your diagnosis and treatment plan.
  • How frequently should I expect to attend Physical Therapy and for how long?
Various factors are taken into account including doctor’s recommendation, diagnosis, and compliance with your home exercise program. Your physical therapist and doctor will create a personalized plan to address your needs following your evaluation.
  • Will I have the same Physical Therapist for each visit?
We believe the more you meet with your Physical Therapist, the better the results. Every visit following your initial evaluation should be scheduled with the therapist that evaluated you to maintain consistency and improve your overall outcome.
  • What do I need to bring with me for my visits?
Please wear comfortable clothing that will allow you to expose your injured area. Your clothing should allow you to move freely.
  • Do I need a physician’s prescription to attend physical therapy?
A recent state law (“Direct Access”) has made it possible for a person to attend physical therapy for a limited time without a doctor’s prescription. This can vary depending on your type of insurance, we will be happy to help you determine what your plan allows.
  • What insurance companies do you provide for?
We are providers for most health insurance plans. Please call the office for more information about insurance coverage. We would be happy to check on your individual coverage.
  • Do I need a referral to attend physical therapy?
Our office will let you know if a referral is needed. Some insurance companies do require a referral.
  • I work during the day. Do you have flexible hours in the evenings?
Most of our locations are open 6 am to 7 pm Monday through Thursday and a slightly shorter day on Fridays. As you schedule your initial visit, the receptionist will ask your availability.
  • How do I get started?
Contact the office of your choice and we will help you with the appropriate steps necessary to begin Physical Therapy. Once your appointment is set, please arrive five minutes prior to your appointment to complete the necessary paperwork. Please remember to bring your Perscription, Photo ID, and Insurance Card.
